The sounds of summer are in the air. Yesterday, of course, was the last day of classes at Christian Centre Academy...so today is the first day of NO SCHOOL. So to be factually accurate, summer does not officially start until June 21st...but we certainly have begun to enter into the cycle of summer already.
For some of you, that means that you aren't setting your morning alarm. For others, you are gearing up to work that summer job. And for others, it means a countdown to whatever summer vacation/get-away that might be lurking around the bend.
However you slice and dice it...the sounds of summer are in the air. I woke up this morning to the sound of a lawnmower! What sounds more like summer than that? Construction is a buzz in my part of town, with groups of stakeboaders and bikers occassionally doing a drive-by on their way to the local park.
So I thought I should take the time to give ya'll my "sounds of summer playlist 09". Feel free to knock it or rock it.
ROCK:::
NeedToBreathe - The Heat (a perfect southern rock record...their first one is more Brit-Rock, if that's your thing)
Disciple - Southern Hospitality (I've been playing this for a while now...but it's a great LOUD album...I need to buy more stuff from them)
MuteMath - Spotlight EP (a glimpse into the future of MuteMath...good, yet typical, but very summer worthy)
Future Of Forestry - Travel EP (if you buy one EP for the summer, this is your jam!)
RAP//HIP-HOP:::
Lacrae - Rebel (the bomb just dropped! A street record blazing Jesus)
116 Clique - Amped EP (hard rap with rock riffs = cool stuff)
Braille & S1 - Cloud Nineteen (a breezy record that is as fun as it is serious)
POP:::
Jars Of Clay - The Long Fall Back To Earth (record of the year? maybe so.)
Brooke Fraser - Albertine (to be honest, I don't have this yet...but it's great)
PRAISE & WORSHIP:::
Oceans Above - s/t (an electronic based recreation of all your favourite church jams)
Karla Adophe - Chair & Microphone Volume 3 (so good...we're bringing her to SCC in the fall for a show!)
What are your sounds of the summer???
