Although the way we communicate the truths of God's Word may change from time to time, our message will always remain the same. As you read these statements of faith, I hope you will be encouraged by the tenets we hold near and dear at Saskatoon Christian Centre.

The Scriptures
We believe the Holy Scriptures, The Holy Bible, the Word of God, of the Old and New Testament to be the verbally and plenary inspired Word of God. The Scriptures are inerrant, infallible and God-breathed and, therefore, are the final authority for faith and life. The sixty six books of the Old and New Testament are the complete and divine revelation of God to Man. The Bible is the inspired Word of God; a revelation from God to man, the infallible rule of faith and conduct, and is superior to conscience and reason. (2 Timothy 3:15-16; 1 Peter 2:2)
The Scriptures shall be interpreted according to their normal grammatical-historical meaning and all issues of interpretation and meaning shall be determined by the Pastor of this Church. (2 Timothy 3:15-17; 1 Peter 2:2; 2 Peter 1:20-21)
The Godhead
Our God is one but is manifested in three persons – the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit, being co-equal (I John 5:7). God the Father is greater than all, the Source of the Word (Logos) and the Begetter (John 1:14; 14:28; 16:28). The Holy Spirit proceeds forth from both the Father and the Son and is eternal (John 15:26).
Man - His Fall & Redemption
Man was created good and upright, for God said, “Let Us make man in Our image, after Our likeness.” But man, by voluntary transgression, fell, and his only hope of redemption is in Jesus Christ, the Son of God (Genesis 1:26 - 31; 3:17; Romans 5:12 - 21).
We believe that salvation is the gift of God brought to man by grace and received by personal faith in the Lord Jesus Christ, whose precious blood was shed on Calvary for the forgiveness of our sins. At salvation, we become the righteousness of God in Christ Jesus. We believe that all sins, except rejection of the Son of God, are forgivable. (John 1:12; Eph. 1:7; 2:8-10; 1Peter 1:18-19; Matt. 12:31-32; 1 John 1:9, 2Cor 5:21)
Eternal Life & New Birth
Man's first step toward salvation is godly sorrow that worketh repentance. The new birth is necessary to all men, and when fulfilled, it produces eternal life (John 3:3-5, II Corinthians 7:10, I John 5:12).
Water Baptism
The ordinance of baptism is symbolic of the burial and resurrection of Christ, and should be observed, as commanded in the Scriptures, by all believers of an age to understand (not infants) who have repented and in their hearts have believed on Christ as Saviour and Lord. In so doing, believers are immersed as the outward symbol of cleansing, while their heart has already been washed with the blood of Christ in an inner cleansing. Believers thus declare to the world that they have died with Jesus and they have also been raised with Him to walk in newness of life. (Matthew 28:19; Acts 10:47-48; Romans 6:4; Acts 20:21; Hebrews 10:22)
Baptism in the Holy Ghost
We believe that all believers are entitled to, and should ardently expect and earnestly seek the promise of the Father, the Baptism in the Holy Ghost and fire, according to the command of our Lord Jesus Christ. This was the normal experience of all in the early Christian Church. With it comes the endowment of power for life and service, the bestowing of the gifts and their uses in the work of the ministry. (Luke 24:49; Acts 1:4, 8; 1 Corinthians 12:1-31.) This wonderful experience is distinct from, and subsequent to, the experience of the new birth. (Acts 10:44-46; 11:14-16, 7-9.)
Sanctification
We believe that the Scriptures teach a life of holiness, without which no man shall see the Lord. By the power of the Holy Spirit we are able to obey the command, "Be holy, for I am holy." Entire sanctification is the will of God for all believers, and should be earnestly pursued by walking in obedience to God's Word. (Hebrews 12:14; 1 Peter 1: 15-16; 1 Thessalonians 5:23-24; 1 John 1:6.)
We believe that all the saved should live in such a manner as not to bring reproach upon their Saviour and Lord. God commands His people to separate from all religious apostasy, all worldly and sinful pleasures, practices, and associations, and to refrain from all immodest and immoderate appearances, piercing, and bodily markings. (Romans 12:1-2, 14:13; 2 Cor. 6:14-7:1; 2 Tim. 3:1-5; 1 John 2:15-17; 2 John 9-11; Lev. 19:28; 1 Cor. 6:19-20)
Divine Healing
We believe that divine health and healing are an integral part of the gospel and are for today. Deliverance from sickness and infirmity is provided for in the plan of redemption and is the privilege of all believers. (Isa. 54:4-5; Matt. 8:16-17; 1 Peter 2:24; James 5:14-16; Mark 16:15-18; Acts 4:30; Matt. 10:8.)
The Blessed Hope, the Second Advent of Christ
We believe in the blessed hope, the personal, imminent return of Christ, Who will rapture His church prior to the seven year tribulation period.
We believe in the resurrection of those who have died in Christ and in their translation together with those who are alive and remain unto the coming of the Lord – the imminent and blessed hope of the Church. (I Thessalonians 4:16; Romans 8:23; Titus 2:13; 1 Corinthians 15:51-52.)
We believe that at the end of the Tribulation, Christ will also personally and visibly return again, this time with His saints, to establish His earthly Kingdom which has been promised. (Psalm 89:3-4; Daniel 2:31-45; Zech. 14:4-11; 1 Thess. 1:10, 4:13-18;; Titus 2:13; Rev. 3:10, 19:11-16, 20:16)
The Eternal State
We believe in the bodily resurrection of all men, the saved to eternal life, and the unsaved to judgment and everlasting punishment. (Matt. 25:46; John 5: 28, 29, 11:25-26; Rev. 20:5-6, 12-13)
We believe that the spirits and the souls of the redeemed are, at death, absent from the body, and present with the Lord, where in conscious bliss they await the first resurrection, when spirit, soul, and body are reunited to be glorified forever with the Lord. (Luke 23:42; 2 Cor. 5:8; Phil. 1:23, 3:21; 1 Thess. 4:16-17; Rev. 20:4-6)
We believe that the spirits and the souls of unbelievers remain, after death, in conscious punishment and torment until the second resurrection, when with spirit, soul and body reunited, they shall appear at the Great White Throne Judgment, and shall be cast into the Lake of Fire, not to be annihilated, but to suffer everlasting conscious punishment and torment. (Matt. 25:41-46; Mark 9:43-48; Luke 16:19-26; 2 Thess. 1:7-9; Jude 6-7; Rev. 20:11-15)
