CCA has a very active music program, encompassing virtually the entire student body. The Bible makes it very clear that we as Christians are to sing and make music as part of our regular lives, and we make sure our students have the opportunity to do that.
The main emphasis of our program is in the area of vocal music, including large choirs, and at the high school level, smaller ensembles, small groups, and solos. Working in musical groups helps develop the students in a number of areas, not just related to music. We focus on teamwork, self-control, worship, obedience, and other qualities that a well-rounded Christian should demonstrate.
For students up to the age of 13, we focus on classroom singing and music appreciation. These students have the opportunity to minister in music both inside and outside our school and church throughout the school year.
Our senior students can participate in number of different groups, where they are able to minister in different venues, including our participation in ACE International Student Leadership Convention. These students learn the proper techniques of vocal production as well as learning to properly express the life God has put in them. They perform a broad range of music styles, from classical to contemporary.
Our instrumental program focuses primarily on Handbells. CCA students can start playing bells at age 10, and can continue throughout their high school career. As well as being very enjoyable to listen to, Handbells also help develop the students’ fine motor skills, rhythm, and teamwork through intensive rehearsing.
As well as ministering regularly in church settings, CCA’s music program has had great success in concert venues, as well as local, national, and international festivals and competitions, receiving 1st place awards in each of these levels. The godly character that is trained into these students is always evident to their audiences, and is a testimony of God’s goodness.
